SETTINGS FOR INCOMING EMAILS

COX uses two types of servers for incoming mails setting. The types of servers used for the purpose of incoming settings are COX POP3 and COX IMAP. COX IMAP is the server which most recommended or default. If we use IMAP we any effect in the mail client will also affect the webmail inbox. But if we use POP server the effect made in the emails of mail client won’t be directly affected in the webmail inbox. The use of COX IMAP settings or COX POP settings will be based on the requirement of the user. The incoming mail settings in COX are selecting the account type as IMAP. Setting the Username and a Password. Setting hostname as imap.COX.net and Server port: 993. Select SSL/TLS as Yes. In the case of the POP3 hostname is set as pop3.COX.net, port: 995. Incoming mail settings are provided for users of Android and iPhone also.

Cox Email Settings for Android

  1. Go to Email icon on the home screen of your Android phone.
  2. After entering the necessary details like email address and password, Click the manual set up button.
  3. In the IMAP account select the incoming server settings.
  4. Provide the following details;

IMAP server: imap.COX.net./ pop3.COX.net.

Port: 993

Security type: SSL

  1. Click next and select the required email check frequency.
  2. Provide your Account Name and Click Done.

Settings for iPhone

  1. Select the Settings option from your iPhone.
  2. Select the Mail, Contacts and Calendars option after scrolling down.
  3. If COX.net provider is not in the email provider, Select Add Account.
  4. From this select Add Mail Account and provide necessary details.

Name Desired Name/    Your Name.

Email: Username

Password: COX.net account password.

Click Next Button

  1. Select IMAP under incoming mail server and enter the following details.
  2. Enter following details under incoming mail server.

Hostname: imap.COX.net/ pop3.COX.net.

Username: Your username

Password: Your COX.net account password

Click Save Button

  1. Enter following details under outgoing setting

Use SSL: Yes

Authentication: Password

Server Port: 995

SETTINGS FOR OUTGOING MAILS

COX provides predefined settings for the outgoing mails which are commonly known as COX SMTP settings.  Mostly this type of internet standards (SMTP) is used by mail servers and mail transfer agents to send and receive mail. But in user-client mail applications, SMTP is used only for sending emails. For the purpose of receiving mail, these applications rely on IMAP or POP3. This is the most common settings for outgoing emails in COX SMTP. Account type is set as SMTP with required Username and Password, setting the hostname as smtp.COX.net, setting the option SSL/TLS as YES.

COX SMTP Settings for Android

  1. Go to Email icon on the home screen of your Android phone.
  2. After entering the necessary details like email address and password, click the manual set up button.
  3. In the IMAP account select the outgoing server settings.
  4. Provide the following details; SMTP server: smtp.COX.net. Port: 587 Security type: SSL
  5. Click next and select the required email check frequency.
  6. Provide your Account Name and Click Done.

COX SMTP Settings for iPhone

  1. Select the Settings option from your iPhone.
  2. Select the Mail, Contacts and Calendars option after scrolling down.
  3. If COX.net provider is not in the email provider, select Add Account.
  4. From this select Add Mail Account and provide necessary details.

Name Desired Name/Your Name.

Email: Username

Password: COX.net account password.

Click Next Button

  1. Select IMAP under incoming mail server and enter the following details.
  2. Enter following details under outgoing mail server.

Hostname: smtp.COX.net

Username: Your username

Password: Your COX.net account password

Click Save Button

  1. Enter following details under outgoing setting

Use SSL: Yes

Authentication: Password

Server Port: 587

SETTINGS FOR OUTLOOK

COX email server settings can be easily configured to OUTLOOK or to any third-party email clients. As a first step, identify the server to be used for COX emails sending and receiving to understand the relevant server for email set up. To set it straight away just switch on your PC or any other appropriate devices and apply predefined settings and server names. You can apply IMAP server settings, SMTP and POP or POP3 settings used to send and receive COX emails in OUTLOOK settings too. It is easy and convenient, right!
