Steps to Set-up Email Settings in MS Outlook

Setting up the Email Settings on any email client is a bit tricky. MS Outlook is, however, an exception. You can obtain a complete set-up email account on a few clicks and taps.

Let’s get started.

Step1: Launch the MS Outlook application from the desktop. Simply, double-click the icon to start it on your PC.

Step2: Now move to File (on the left-top corner) > Info and then click on the ‘Account Settings’ icon.

Step3: Select the ‘Account Settings’ option again from the drop-down menu.

This will open up the “Account Settings’ wizard on your computer screen.

Step4: Go to the Email tab and click the ‘New’ button. Now click on radio icon/button next to ‘Microsoft Exchange, IMAP, POP3, or HTTP’’. Click “Next’ to proceed further.

Step5: Check the box saying ‘Manually Design server settings or extra server types’ and then click ‘Next’.

Step6: Click on the ‘Internet Email’ option and click ‘Next’.

Step7: Fill in the details as discussed in the ‘Pre-requisites/requirements’ section above. Fill the “Username Information’ details in the respective fields.

Step8: Note the login information, please. You have to use this same information to access your webmail.

Step9: Check the box labeled as “Remember your password” to prevent feeding up the same data every time you go to a login.

Step10: Click the ‘More Settings’ button. Now move to the ‘Outgoing Server’ Tab.  Check/tick the option saying ‘My Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication’.

Step11: Now click the radio icon adjacent to the ‘Use same settings as incoming mail server’ option.

Step12: Go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and select ‘This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)’ option.

This will automatically change the field number to ‘995’. I don’t, change the value manually.

Step13: Change the SMTP Value to 465 and choose ‘SSL’ value from the drop-down menu.

Step14: Click OK and then the ‘Test Settings’ button to cross-check if the settings are correct.

Step15: Click ‘Next’ and then ‘Finish’ to end the configuration process.
